Some meals you can prepare when your children, spouse, or roommates go away and you have some alone time. One of them includes tacos, and if you are one of the people who are always looking for new recipes, you’re on the right page.
What Is Jackfruit?
Introducing jackfruit tacos. They are a saucy, lick-your-fingers addition to your weeknight menu for non-vegans and vegans. It takes a lot less time to prepare them, as they will be ready in less than 30 minutes. If you have never heard of jackfruit, it’s a fruit that comes from India. Today, you can also see it growing in tropical areas like Brazil and Southeast Asia. You can buy it frozen in its sweet, ripe form, and use it to make smoothies and desserts. You can also buy it in cans when it’s still green and unripe.
How to Prepare the Jackfruit
You need to make sure you buy canned, green, or unripe jackfruit for this recipe. After removing it from the can, give it a good rinse so you can get rid of the briny and salty flavor. Shred the jackfruit and start cooking. Use a fork or your fingers to shred the larger canned chunks, similar to how you do with chicken or pulled pork. If you have little bits of the core, don’t worry. You can leave the chunks as they are or chop them, they are edible. You won’t notice them once you cook the fruit.
