Being inexperienced in the kitchen doesn’t mean you can’t start somewhere. Why not consider chocolate mousse? Today, we’ll share a recipe that is not only easy but will also give you the tastiest, fluffiest, and richest mousse ever. Rest assured that everyone at home will ask for more!
The Needed Ingredients
The best thing about this recipe is that you probably have all the ingredients at home. Take everything out of your pantry, and let’s get started!
Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 ounces dark chocolate (62% cacao is ideal)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tiny pinch salt
- 1/2 cup chilled heavy whipping cream
How to Make the Mousse
As mentioned, the mousse is super easy to make and will take less than 30 minutes. Then, all you have to do is leave it to chill for an hour and enjoy it.
Directions:
- Start by breaking up the chocolate into small pieces. Set aside along with the butter.
- Take a metal mixing bowl and add the egg yolks, sugar, water, and salt. Cook over medium-low, whisking constantly. You should end up with a thick and foamy mixture that is hot to the touch.
- Then, add the chocolate and butter and whisk again until the chocolate is all melted. Leave the mixture to cool down a bit while whisking occasionally. You shouldn’t add the hot chocolate mixture to the whipped cream, but if you let it cool for too long, the mixture will get harder to fold.
- Whisk the cream only until medium-stiff peaks start to form. Then, add about 1/3 of the chocolate mixture and gently fold with a spatula. Make sure everything is well incorporated, but the texture is still airy.
- The amount of mousse should be enough for four servings. Put the dessert into storage dishes, wrap, and chill for at least an hour in the refrigerator.
