Olivia Wilde on the Red Carpet with Florence Pugh Despite Rumored Feud
Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh attend the premiere of their new movie Don’t Worry, Darling in an atmosphere of continued attention to rumors about what happened during the making of the film.
Don’t Worry, Darling Premieres at the Venice Film Festival
Wilde is the director and co-star in Don’t Worry Darling, a psychological thriller where Pugh plays Alice. Florence Pugh’s character is a housewife in the community of Victory that is seemingly perfect. Alice starts to see through the façade, and her husband Jack (played by Harry Styles) gets in deeper.
The film premiered at the 2022 edition of the Venice Film Festival on Monday, Sept 5. On the red carpet, Wilde, 38, and Pugh, 26, posed together with the other stars of the movie — Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, Sydney Chandler, Chris Pine, and Nick Kroll. Pugh’s grandmother was also present at the event.
Olivia Wilde Celebrates the Work of Florence Pugh
At the film’s press conference just hours before that, Olivia Wilde fielded a question concerning rumors that she and Pugh have fallen out. Wilde responded that she was grateful Florence Pugh could make it for the press conference that night even though Pugh was in the production on Dune. Wilde referred to Florence as a “force” and went on by saying she was thrilled and honored to celebrate her colleague’s work that night. Wilde goes on to describe Pugh as “amazing.”
Olivia Wilde said she didn’t want to contribute to the tabloid gossip surrounding a leaked video Wilde allegedly sent to Shia LaBeouf. In the clip, Wilde asked LaBeouf not to quit the movie because of unresolved tension between him and Pugh. Wilde previously claimed that she had fired LaBeouf from Don’t Worry Darling to maintain a non-aggressive environment on set.
Olivia Wilde Responds to More Tabloid Media Allegations
A rumored feud between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh was also reported. Styles, who is currently dating Wilde, was believed to have been paid three times higher than Pugh. However, Wilde dismissed all false allegations by tabloid media as a “tool to pit women against one another” and “clickbait,” in an earlier interview for Variety.
Pugh, on the other hand, gave an interview for Harper’s Bazaar last month. She expressed her wish that Don’t Worry Darling would get the attention of the audience not just because of the sex scenes, as was speculated by some online conversation following the debut of the trailers. Florence believes that the movie, as well as the people in it, are “bigger and better than that.”
