Will and Jada Pinkett Smith
Remember the happy family day out when Will and Jada Pinkett Smith took Trey, Jaden, and Willow to the 2022 premiere of Will’s latest film, Emancipation? Everything was hunky dory. They posed for photos on the red carpet, everyone had a lovely time, and Dad didn’t slap anyone. Move along… there’s nothing to see here.
But after Chris Rock made fun of Jada’s alopecia at the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith walked on stage and — channeling his inner Muhammad Ali — slapped the Academy Award host live in front of millions of viewers.
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner took her darling daughter Stormi to see her dad, rapper Travis Scott, perform at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Mom wore a figure-hugging silver graphic print dress, while Stormi looked like a little superstar in an off-white dress and sneakers.
Stormi might be tiny, but she’s already worth $570 million! The Kardashian-Jenner girls love men called Travis as Kourtney is married to musician Travis Walker. More on him later…
Beyoncé
Beyoncé took her daughter, Blue Ivy, to the 2019 The Lion King premiere. Queen Bey voiced Simba’s leonine girlfriend, Nala, in Jon Favreau’s photorealistic Disney remake. She also blew audiences away with a jaw-dropping new version of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” And now we’re remembering it… we’re not crying; you’re crying.
But, did you know Blue Ivy is following in her mom’s footsteps? Beyoncé’s soundtrack album, The Lion King: The Gift, featured a song called “Brown Skinned Girl” — featuring Wizkid, SAINt JHN… and seven-year-old Blue Ivy Knowles!
Chris Hemsworth
Aussie hunk Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky, brought their eight-year-old twin sons to Sydney’s Thor: Love and Thunder premiere. The boys were suited and booted, while Elsa looked radiant in a black evening gown.
Surprisingly, the couple’s daughter, India Rose, didn’t attend the premiere of her first movie. However, Chris’ brother, Luke, tagged along with his wife Samantha — plus three of their four children — for the ultimate family night out.
Zoe Saldaña
When actress Zoe Saldaña was honored with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2018, she didn’t show up alone. In fact, the whole Perego-Saldaña family had a day out in the California sunshine. Zoe, her husband — Italian artist Marco Perego — and their three children joined the ceremony too.
While it was a family day, luckily, Gamora’s dad Thanos stayed away, or else half the universe might have turned to dust. Wait, Thanos did what to Gamora in Avengers: Endgame?
Madonna
Some celebrities’ children dream of stepping out on the red carpet like a modern-day debutante. But that wasn’t the case when Madonna took her daughter, Lourdes Leon, to the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Lourdes was left blushing with embarrassment because her mom wore an outfit that showed off her derriere. Daily Mail reported, “The mortified teen was heard pleading: ‘Mum, do you have to?!’ every time her popstar parent struck a pose and poked out her posterior for the waiting cameras.
Matt Damon
Matt Damon keeps his private life super secret and often employs the spycraft he learned playing Jason Bourne to keep his family away from media attention. So, the Boston native caused a wicked stir when he took most of his family to the premiere of Air (2023).
Joining Matt on the carpet were his wife, Luciana Barroso, and their three daughters, Isabella, Gia, and Stella. But, that’s not the whole clan. Luciana’s daughter from a previous marriage, Alexia — whom Damon counts as his own — also showed up.
Angelina Jolie
The whole Jolie-Pitt clan escorted Angelina Jolie to the 2021 premiere of Marvel’s Eternals. The actress a strapless Balmain dress with some vintage Tiffany & Co. jewelry. But, can you believe her kids wore their mom’s hand-me-downs to save money? Yes, it’s true, folks… even multimillionaire Angelina Jolie recycles!
Jolie told Entertainment Tonight, “We did all vintage and upcycled my old stuff.” Zahara wore the Elie Saab dress her mom wore to the 2014 Oscars, while Shiloh sported an upcycled mom’s beige Gabriela Hearst dress.
Salma Hayek
Angelina Jolie wasn’t the only Eternal to bring her kids to the premiere of Chloe Zao’s Marvel superhero flick. Salma Hayek’s daughter accompanied Mom to the 2021 Eternals first showing in Los Angeles.
Starstruck teenager Valentina Paloma Pinault got to walk the red carpet with her mom and the rest of the cast — including Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, and Lauren Ridloff — ahead of the much-anticipated but ultimately disappointing world premiere. Salma said she took Valentina along to see for herself that she could achieve anything if she puts her mind to it. Yeah, easily said when you have superpowers, Mom!
Machine Gun Kelly
Speaking of daddy-daughter dates, while Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox first stepped out on the red carpet debut as a couple at the 2020 American Music Awards, MGK brought a different date the following year.
The lucky lady was his adorably cute 12-year-old daughter, Cassie Coulson Baker, who absolutely rocked it in an elegant long black halter dress designed by Valentino. Casie proved to be a good luck charm as MGK took to the stage to accept the award for Favorite Rock Artist.
Reese Witherspoon
When Reese Witherspoon went to see Sing 2 in 2021, she took along her then-husband Jim Toth and children — Ava, Deacon, and Tennessee. Jim is Tennesee’s dad, while Ava and Deacon are Reese’s children from her previous marriage to Ryan Phillippe. Doesn’t Ava look just like her mom?
Sadly, in March 2023, Reese and Jim announced they were splitting up. They wrote on social media, “We have some personal news to share… It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce.”
Matthew McConaughey
Ever since making headlines back in 1999 for playing the bongos in the nude, Matthew McConaughey has kept his private life away from media attention. The Interstellar actor has kept his family out of the limelight for years, but in 2021, the clan made a splash on the red carpet.
MattMac brought his wife, gorgeous Brazilian model Camila Alves, and three kids — Levi, Vida, and Livingston — to the Sing 2 premiere. McConaughey wrote on Instagram that the night out was a beautiful “family affair.”
Tyrese Gibson
Singer and Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson was anything but furious when the doting dad and his delightful daughter, Shayla Somer, attended the 2015 American Music Awards. Shayla had a fantastic time schmoozing with stars like Taylor Swift and One Direction. But, star-studded events are not the only way Tyrese spoils his daughter.
At the event, a reporter asked Gibson about the most lavish or over-the-top gift he’d given or received. “Well, I just bought my daughter an island,” he said. Called Love Island, its location is top secret.
Courteney Cox
Surprisingly, Courteney Cox didn’t bring any of her Friends to the 2023 Scream VI premiere. Instead, her date was her 18-year-old daughter, Coco Arquette, who she shares with ex-hubby and ex-Scream co-star David Arquette. Mom and daughter held hands on the red carpet.
Coco wore a red maxi dress, while evergreen Courteney wore a black dress under a velvet blazer and high heels. Can you believe Courtney Cox is 59 in this photo? She doesn’t look a day over 30!
Daniel Craig
Daniel Craig is as hard to pin down as his ears are to pin back. In 2021, he made his last outing as James Bond. But just one year later, the English actor was back as Detective Benoit Blanc in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The super-private star was seen again at the film’s premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
Instead of taking his wife, actress Rachel Weisz, Craig unveiled his 18-year-old daughter, Ella Loudon, who he shares with his ex-wife — Scottish actress Fiona Loudon. Ella is following in her mom and dad’s footsteps by treading the boards and the red carpet.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian brought their four-year-old daughter, Olympia, to the 2021 premiere of King Richard. The film is a biopic about Serena and Venus’ father, Richard, and how he overcame poverty and racism so his daughters could go on to dominate women’s tennis.
Serena and her mini-me fashionista daughter Olympia wore matching outfits — black bodysuits with a pair of thigh-high boots, one of which was decked out in silver jewels. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian looked dapper in a white-button down suit and black jacket.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
In 2016, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds introduced the world to their two daughters for the first time as the Deadpool actor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ryan told Blake, “You are the best thing, the best thing that has ever happened to me — second only to this star.”
Then the funnyman continued, “You make everything better, absolutely everything in my life better. You’ve made me the father of my dreams when I thought I only had fun uncle potential.”
Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain
Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain attended the Saint Laurent show as part of the Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2018 in Paris, France. And it wasn’t the first time Frances Bean accompanied her mom to a red carpet event.
Kurt and Courtney took her to the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards when she was a one-year-old baby! Tragically, Kurt passed in April 1994. As a result, Frances Bean was left without her father at a very young age.
David and Victoria Beckham
Power couple David and Victoria Beckham took Romeo, Cruz, and Harper Seven to the premiere of Disney’s Save Our Squad. Well, it’s actually a blue carpet, but who’s squabbling? Mom and Dad got semi-dressed up while the kids rocked a more informal look.
Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz, didn’t attend the event as they were probably living it up in California. The show follows David as he returns to his childhood manor of East London to help save an under-14s grassroots group Westward Boys from relegation.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick
In December 2022, Sarah Jessica Parker, husband Matthew Broderick, and the whole family attended the opening night of Some Like it Hot on Broadway together. The glittering event was held at New York City’s Shubert Theater. Mom, Dad, and the kids — James and twins Marion and Tabitha — all look thrilled to be there.
SJP and MB have been together since 1997, and keep their children out of the spotlight. As the kids have gotten older, however, the acting couple has brought their children to events here and there.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade
Cheaper by the Dozen is a film about a couple with 12 children. The story is so rich the movie has been made three times — first in 1950, then again in 2003, and yet again in 2022. Actress Gabrielle Union and ex-NBA star Dwyane Wade only have two kids, but they brought Zaya and Kaavia James to the premiere of Mom’s 2022 version.
Hollywood’s hottest and most wholesome celebrity couple, Gabrielle and Dwyane, should have a baker’s dozen of kids. So-called because bakers used to make batches of 13 in case one loaf burned, so watch this space!
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
All Mariah Carey wants for Christmas is you-uuuuu, but all her kids want is to look utterly adorbs on the red carpet. The festive warbler and her ex-hubby Nick Cannon took their twins Monroe and Moroccan to the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards…
Since then, Masked Singer host Nick Cannon has welcomed 10 more children. Yes, you read that right — 10 more children! Their names are Golden, Powerful Queen, Zion Mixolydian, Zillion Heir, Zen, Legendary Love, Onyx Ice, Rise Messiah, Beautiful Zeppelin, and Halo.
Ben Stiller
Funnyman Ben Stiller brought his 16-year-old daughter, Ella Olivia, to the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. And Ella is well-trained as she gushed about her dad’s latest directorial offering, Showtime drama Escape at Dannemora.
Ella was ecstatic to be her dad’s plus one, telling reporters, “It’s exciting […] I’m proud. I’m so proud of him!” Ella has become her dad’s go-to date in recent years, with the pair stepping out on the red carpet many times together.
Ciara and Russell Wilson
While some celebrity parents like keeping their kids out of the limelight, others thrust them into the spotlight at an early age. NFL quarterback Russell Wilson and his superstar singer wife Ciara brought their children, Future Zahir Wilburn and Sienna Princess, to the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards.
At the time, Sienna was just two! The kids will surely follow in their parents’ footsteps. The question is — will Future Zahir Wilburn be a quarterback and Sienna Princess a singer, or the other way around?
Tina Fey
Uber-talented actress, writer, comedian, Saturday Night Live head writer, and all-round funny woman Tina Fey stepped out with her daughter, nine-year-old Alice Richmond, to the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles in 2014.
Fey won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series two years earlier for playing Liz Lemon in 30 Rock. While Tina was not nominated in 2014, she and Alice had a lovely night out on the town.
Lenny Kravitz
20 years ago, Lenny Kravitz brought daughter Zoë to the 2000 Grammy Awards. Fast forward two decades, and here are the gorgeous father and daughter pair attending Saint Laurent’s Fall 2020 show. All grown-up, Zoë is a star in her own right, playing Catwoman in 2022’s The Batman.
And with those genes, it’s no wonder Zoë became a talented actress. Apparently, when her dad asked her, “Are You Gonna Go My Way?” Zoë replied, “If it leads to the red carpet!”
Kate Moss
Lila Grace Moss Hack accompanied her mom, legendary English supermodel Kate Moss to New York’s 2022 Met Gala. Lila’s dad is editor and co-founder of Dazed magazine, Jefferson Hack, which is a pretty ironic surname for a journalist!
He split up with Kate shortly after Lila’s birth, silly boy! Lila — who suffers from Type 1 diabetes — has followed in the footsteps of her legendary mom by becoming a model. And don’t they both look divine?
Blythe Danner
Did you know that Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom, Blythe Danner, is also an actress? Here, the pair of thespians walk the red carpet to go and watch the Los Angeles premiere of mom’s new film, I’ll See You in My Dreams.
Gwyneth’s late father, Bruce Paltrow, was a film and TV director and producer. With those genes, it’s no wonder Gwyneth is always walking the red carpet. She won an Oscar for starring in Shakespeare in Love when she was 26.
Britney Spears
Britney accompanied her two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston Federline, on the blue carpet to the premiere of The Smurfs 2. And she even wore a curve-hugging blue (well, turquoise) Herve Leger dress to fit in with the little Belgian critters. The Smurfs that is — not Sean and Jayden.
Britney and the boy’s dad, Kevin Federline, had many custody battles since they divorced in 2007 but Sean and Jayden have grown into fine, well-adjusted young men. So, there’s no need for them to sing the blues!
Jason Momoa
In 2022, Jason Momoa brought his two teenagers to the premiere of his fantasy movie Slumberland. If you haven’t seen it, imagine Finding Nemo but with humans. He shares daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf with his ex Lisa Bonet.
Lola joined Aquadad for an E! News interview, saying, “It was incredible. Me and my friends choreographed a dance routine to “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa, and my dad loved the dance, so he put it in the movie.”
Seal
Seal attended the 2021 premiere of African American cowboy film, The Harder They Fall. The English singer was there to perform his song, “Ain’t No Better Love” from the film’s soundtrack. And there was no better love than the love between Seal and his stepdaughter Leni Olumi Klum, when they stepped out on the red carpet.
Seal and Heidi Klum have four children, while Leni is from Heidi’s previous relationship with F1 team manager Flavio Briatore. Seal adopted Leni in 2009.
Lil’ Kim
Rapper Lil’ Kim must have had a plus two to 2019’s star-studded BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta, Georgia. She didn’t only bring her daughter Royal Reign; she also brought her BFF. Tiffany Panhilason is one of Kim’s co-stars on the VH1 reality TV show Girls Cruise.
For the special night, Royal Reign was dressed in Burberry from head to toe while her mom wore a metallic stunning pink dress by Dapper Dan x Gucci to go with her pink hair. And speaking of pink…
Pink
Singer-songwriter and acrobat Pink, her motorbike racing hubby Carey Hart and their children, Willow and Jameson, were spotted on the red carpet at the 2019 Country Music Association Awards. Their eight-year-old daughter Willow wore a lovely dress decorated with horses and showed off her rock moves in some stompolicious, steel-capped boots.
Three-year-old Jameson dressed as a future Country and Western music star in a mini 10-gallon hat and cowboy boots. Mom also took Willow and Jameson to the 2023 iHeartRadio Icon Awards, where the kids stole the show.
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz
When she’s not tinkling piano keys, Alicia Keyes and her record producer husband, Swizz Beatz, are taking their son to The Black Ball Charity Gala. The fundraiser raises money for Alicia’s Keep a Child Alive Foundation, which helps children with HIV.
The annual event took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in “New York, New York… concrete jungle where dreams are made of.” The handsome family cut a fine trio, and Alicia dazzled in a red dress to match the carpet.
Ellen Pompeo
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo brought her daughter, Stella Luna Pompeo, to the 2018 premiere of Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theater. Stella gets her style from her record producer dad, Chris Ivery.
While mom did her best to blend in with her surroundings by wearing a chic belted red jumpsuit by Cienne, young Stella rocked a fabulous rainbow-colored skirt, sneakers, and a black leather jacket. It turns out Stella is just too cool for school!
James Marsden
Instead of bringing his girlfriend to the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Westworld actor James Marsden took his teenage son Jack on a father-son date. And doesn’t Jack look the spitting image of his dad… but blonder? Much, much blonder.
At the time, Marsden was dating British singer-songwriter Emma Deigman, aka Edei, and told reporters, “We’re excited. I’m just trying to keep up with him, the dress, the attire; he wears things I can’t.” But in April 2023, 49-year-old Marsden was spotted out and about with 26-year-old model Kelsey Merritt.
Jessica Simpson
In October 2017, Jessica Simpson and her five-year-old daughter, Maxwell Johnson, stole the show at the Princess Grace Awards Gala in Hollywood. The proud mom and daughter duo met Princess Charlene of Monaco, whose mom, Grace Kelly, the event is named after.
Maxwell presented Princess Charlene with a bouquet of flowers and got a hug as her mother looked on smiling. Maxwell wore a super cute bright red dress, while Jessica wore a black polka dot dress with ruby red shoes to compliment her daughter’s dress.
Ashlee Simpson
Jessica Simpson’s little sister, Ashlee Simpson, and husband Evan Ross showcased their two children at the 2017 American Music Awards. Daughter Jagger Snow was presumably named after Rolling Stone Mick Jagger. Son Bronx Wentz is from Ashlee’s previous relationship with ex-husband Pete Wentz. Like Brooklyn Beckham, he might have been named after the part of New York where he was conceived.
In October 2020, Ashlee added another babe to her growing brood. She welcomed a son, who the couple named Ziggy Blu, presumably named after David Bowie and one of his eyes.
Jamie Foxx
Beloved actor, comedian, and musician Jamie Foxx took his two daughters, aspiring model and actress Corinne Foxx and Annalise Bishop, as his dates to the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2020.
The Ray, Collateral, and Django Unchained star keeps his private life ultra-secret, but he was rumored to be dating Katie Holmes for six years from 2013 to 2019. Jamie first became a father with his ex Connie Kline in 1994. At the time of the photo, Corinne was 29, and Anelise was 14.
Tori Spelling
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott brought all five of their children to the world premiere of Jumanji: The Next Level. Tori is the daughter of hugely successful TV producer Aaron Spelling and former Beverly Hills, 90210 star — while Dean is a Canadian actor. Tori, Dean, and their brood even had their own reality show at one point.
Tori posted on Instagram, saying, “Had such a fun family movie night at the premiere of Jumanji 2 […] Liam got to meet his hero Danny De Vito.” Unfortunately, Tori and Dean have since split. According to sources, Tori has been spotted living out of an RV along with her five kids.
Tim Burton
Like one of his film characters, Tim Burton rarely goes out in sunlight but made a super rare red carpet appearance with his and Helena Bonham Carter’s son Billy Ray and daughter Nell at the 2021 Rome Film Festival.
Tim was there to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for making great films like Batman, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, and Big Fish, and err… Planet of the Apes. Tim, Billy Ray, and Nell weren’t the only ones to grace Rome Film Fest’s red carpet. The Burton trio was joined by their dog, Levi.
Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera and Matthew Rutler took their children, then-nine-year-old Max Liron Bratman and then-two-year-old Summer Rain Rutler, to the 2017 premiere of The Emoji Movie. Xtina had Max with ex-husband Jordan Bratman while she shares Summer with Matthew Rutler.
The appearance marked the first time the family walked a red carpet together, and the kids sported emojis on their clothes. The Beautiful singer has been engaged to Rutler since 2014, but they still haven’t tied the knot.
Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian
Musician Travis Barker became part of the Kardashian-Jenner clan by marrying Kourtney Kardashian, and the couple brought almost the entire family to the 2022 Hulu premiere of The Kardashians. Kourtney shares Mason, Penelope, and Reign with her ex Scott Disick, while the Blink-182 drummer shares son Landon Asher and daughter Alabama Luella with ex-model Shanna Moakler.
Here, the beautifully blended family is only missing Mason and Penelope. When interviewed, they said they were waiting for the show to hit TV screens.
Puff Daddy
Puff Daddy took his daughter, Chance, to the 2022 Academy Awards. 15-year-old Chance exuded elegance in a classy white, bejeweled dress with sparkly trimmed sleeves. Diddy told Entertainment Live, “She’s an inspiring actress, and we get to have a date, and I’m just so excited, and I’m just so stunned.”
Diddy added, “I’m at a loss for words, so I’m blessed to be here. I’m presenting tonight, and we’re having a good time […] I’m dealing with daddy emotions.” Awww, bless him.
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore brought her youngest daughter, Frankie Kopelman, to the 2017 Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s annual Bunny Hop in New York City. And two-year-old Frankie made the cutest date ever as she and her mom held hands on the red carpet and posed with the Easter Bunny.
Posing with the giant rabbit was nice because little Frankie wore the Easter Bunny’s brother as a coat. Only kidding, there wasn’t a gray hare in sight… apart from on mom’s head.
LeBron James
LeBron James might be able to squish you like a bug under his size 15 Air Jordans, but he’s really a big softie. The NBA star married his high school sweetheart, Savannah, and treats their kids like royalty.
After all, his nickname is King James. LeBron brought all three kids to the 2023 Espy Awards. LeBron and Savannah have two older boys — LeBron “Bronny” James Jr. and the gladiatorial-sounding Bryce Maximus. While Zhuri is the most recent addition to this royal family.
24+ Times Celebrities Opened Up About Their Divorces
Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth
On March 24th, 2023, celebrity couple Reese Witherspoon and her talent agent husband Jim Toth took to social media to announce their intention to divorce after more than a decade. They cited irreconcilable differences, but Reese later revealed that Jim had some kind of midlife crisis that changed his outlook on life.
Reese and Jim stated, “We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together,” before adding they will move forward with love, kindness, and mutual respect as they co-parent their son, Tennesee James.
Chris Pratt and Anna Faris
In 2017, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced their separation on social media, writing, “We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together, and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.” Maybe Anna divorced Chris because he was spending more time bringing up his baby velociraptors than with his family. Clever girl.
A year later, Anna opened up on the aptly named podcast Divorce Sucks!, and fessed up by admitting she found it very difficult to separate from the man she’d given her life to. Awww, bless.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon married in 2008, split in 2014, and finalized their divorce two years later. Mariah opened up in a 2016 interview with Complex, saying, “I never thought I would have babies with someone and then get divorced. Like, ‘Oh, great job. Repeat your past.'”
Four years later, Nick got up close and personal, giving the above quote to Entertainment Weekly. In other words, Mariah Carey put him off marriage for life. And music! Only kidding.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen
It was the marriage made in heaven. The NFL’s greatest-ever quarterback and one of the world’s most beautiful models. Tom and Giselle had it all — two wonderful children, fame, fortune, trophies… But then, after 13 years, Gisele announced she was divorcing Tom Brady in October 2022.
While the official reason is that they had grown apart, rumors abound that Tom cheated. Later, the Brazilian model told Vanity Fair magazine all the sacrifices she made for her ex-husband, including moving to Boston for him — which was wicked kind of her!
Adele and Simon Konecki
British singer Adele got together with married charity magnate Simon Konecki in 2011. They had a son, Angelo, before getting married in 2018 and splitting just three years later. According to The Sun newspaper, the singer was ordered by a judge to pay a $140 million majority of the divorce settlement to her ex-husband.
Adele explained further, “It just wasn’t right for me anymore. I didn’t want to end up like a lot of other people I knew.” Since the divorce, she looks fantastic!
Madonna and Guy Ritchie
Everything was fine and dandy when Her Madgesty got together with British movie maker Guy Ritchie. “When you start off, everything’s great and lovely, and the person you’ve married is flawless, and you’re flawless,” she mused.
But the Queen of Pop admitted by the time they had children, the cracks started to appear: Madonna later said she asked herself how much she was willing to sacrifice for the relationship. How about $75 million?
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
The Kardashians welcomed NBA star Kris Humphries to the family when he married Kim in August 2011. In October 2011, the E! Network aired a TV special showing the wedding preparations and ceremony. Later the same month, Kardashian filed for divorce after just 72 days of marriage. Hump revealed, “Our actual relationship was 100% real.”
In a 2012 episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Kim said their relationship wasn’t a publicity stunt, she and Kris had genuinely fallen in love, but then she changed her mind. Seems legit!
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
In the final episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim revealed why she split with Kanye. She admitted she felt “numb” and “lonely” in her marriage and stated things got rocky after Kanye West moved northeast to a ranch in Wyoming while she stayed in California. Is that why they’re called the Rocky Mountains?
Kim said she realized that she was getting on best with her eccentric husband when he was living on his $11 million Wyoming ranch. So, she filed for a $2.7 billion divorce.
Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds
Did you know that Marvel’s Black Widow and Deadpool used to be an item? Yup, Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot in 2008, the same year the first Marvel movie, Iron Man, came out. The marriage lasted three years, and Scarlett described the divorce as horrible.
In interviews, Johansson implied that the breakdown occurred because Ryan was missing the fundamental characteristic of compassion. That might explain why he bought Welsh lower league soccer club Wrexham FC… to appear more compassionate like Ted Lasso!
Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman
Drew Barrymore married actor Will Kopelman in 2012, and the couple had two children before separating four years later. Drew loved motherhood and adored Will’s family, but they had clashed over where to live, leaving Kopelman “devastated.”
Barrymore laid her heart bare to Chelsea Handler while a source close to the family said, “They’ve had marriage issues for a while.” There was tension over where to live, with Drew drawn to Los Angeles and Will preferring New York City.
Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom
Reality star Khloé Kardashian married NBA player Lamar Odom in 2009, and they were together for seven years. Sadly, Lamar’s rumored infidelity led the marriage to break down in spectacular fashion. After that, his dependencies on illegal substances nearly ended his life.
Lamar said, “For part of my marriage, I had to tell Khloé. You can’t hide that forever. She was hurt, but Khloe was a good wife. She wasn’t dismissive or ‘Get away from me,’ she was protective and wanted to protect me even more.”
Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards were married for years and had two daughters, Sam and Lola, before divorcing in 2006. When discussing her breakup, Denise said she was persecuted by the media and that Charlie wasn’t always a bad boy. Yeah, right!
But he’s defo made up for it since! Charlie and his more recent ex, Brooke Mueller, were such unfit parents that a judge made Denise Richards the legal guardian of their twins, Max and Bob.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin met at a Coldplay gig, married a year later, and had two wonderfully-named kids, Apple and Moses. But in 2014, they consciously uncoupled. Gwyneth said, “I am from a tribe of people who stay married.” Her parents, Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner, were married from 1969 until her dad passed away in 2002.
While the split seemed mutual, adult, and amicable, in the 2018 documentary Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams, Chris said he struggled with his mental health throughout their separation.
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale
Gwen Stefani’s world changed forever in 2015 when her marriage to musician imploded after more than a decade. In an interview with CBS’s Sunday Morning, Gwen had no doubts that “At that time, everything was like I had no skin; it was so raw.”
The No Doubt singer also admitted she fell deeper and deeper into the abyss. So, when Gwen asks if we understand her embarrassment, yes, we 100% know what you mean, sister…
Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon
Just one year after divorcing Rick Salomon, Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson admitted looking in the mirror and asking herself, “Who is this person? How did I let myself get to this place?” But, sadly, Pamela didn’t learn her lesson and went back for more… twice!
Pammy and Rick rekindled their relationship two more times, but the rumor mill suggests she’s recently divorced him for a third time. It wasn’t a case of “Third time’s a charm” for Pammy!
Courteney Cox and David Arquette
Courteney Cox and David Arquette got together while they were filming Scream way back in 1996. They had a daughter, Coco, in 2004, and eventually married five years later. But the marriage only lasted a year. David says he felt insecure about his wife being more famous than him.
When she appeared on an episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls, Courteney told the adventurer that she and David were polar opposites. With all these polar bears running around, it must have been like an episode of Lost!
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber
Another Scream star to divorce a fellow celebrity was Liev Schreiber. He was with British-Australian actress Naomi Watts for 11 years until 2016. The following year, Naomi told Vogue Australia that she wasn’t dating and that she was finding co-parenting a struggle.
She explained she and Schreiber were doing their best for the sake of the children, Kai and Sasha, and hoped to keep moving forward. But later, in 2017, Naomi got together with actor Billy Crudup. So, she’s not single anymore.
Jewel and Ty Murray
