Since the news came out, many friends and colleagues of Jordan over the years have shared their grief and memories of the late actor. Sean Hayes, Jordan’s co-star on Will & Grace wrote, “my heart is broken.”
A more recent co-star, from his time on Call Me Kat, Mayim Bialik, told media outlets, “There aren’t words to convey the loss we are experiencing as a cast and a Call Me Kat family. Leslie Jordan was larger than life. He was a Southern gentleman; tender, wise, naughty, and hilarious.”
Dolly Parton’s Tribute
As uniquely close friends, Dolly Parton shared on her Instagram an especially moving tribute to Leslie Jordan. “Well, I am as hurt and shocked as if I have lost a family member. Leslie and I had a special bond, I think the world felt they had a special bond with him,” the singer shared.
“I know people always say, ‘Oh, they will be missed,’ but in this case that could not be more true. He will be missed by everyone who knew him personally and by everyone who was entertained by him. Rest in peace lil’ brother.”
Leslie Jordan’s Career
Though probably most famously known for his iconic role as Beverley Leslie on Will & Grace, Jordan’s acting career began in 1986 on the adventure show The Fall Guy. From there he went on to build an impressive Hollywood resume.
His hilarious comedic talent and recognizable Southern drawl made him a beloved and successful actor. For his role on Will & Grace, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006. His latest credit for Call Me Kat had just premiered its third season last month.
His Personal Life
Leslie Jordan was openly gay since the ‘80s and had always been a loud voice for LGBTQ+ rights. After a rough adolescence of substance dependence, he battled his addiction and finally became fully sober at 42.
In an interview in 2021, he shared that he was happily single. Thanks to his expanding online presence and skits from home over the last two years, he became even more beloved by his fans who found solace and joy in his witty and empathetic posts. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
